Monica Chohan

Founder & Principal

Monica Chohan is an Ottawa-based lawyer, workplace investigator, and governance expert with nearly two decades of experience spanning law, policy, and organizational leadership. A member of the Law Society of Ontario since 2010, Monica began her career in the private sector as a regulatory lawyer before founding her own legal practice, Chohan Law, in 2017. Her work is defined by a commitment to helping organizations thrive through a trauma-informed, anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and decolonizing lens.

A recognized governance expert, Monica has provided legal counsel to boards and executives navigating complex, multifaceted legal challenges with significant financial, reputational, and strategic implications, and which often involve challenging workplace and organizational dynamics. As a result, she has become a trusted advisor on the root causes of persistent conflict and dysfunction, and provides strategic advice to organizations seeking to chart a new course.

In addition to her advisory practice, Monica provides trauma-informed workplace investigations, conflict resolution, mediations and workplace restorations, and is an advocate of trauma-informed approaches to legal services. 

Drawing on her extensive and diverse expertise and training as a professional facilitator, she also delivers dynamic, engaging presentations and workshops that help boards and leaders to reimagine governance models, foster healthier workplaces, strengthen accountability, and align organizational systems and structures with their values. 

Known for her ability to bridge law, leadership, and humanity, Monica brings both depth and practical insight to every session, making concepts relevant and accessible through storytelling and equipping audiences with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to make well-informed decisions for their organizations.

Sarah Picard

Sarah Picard is an Ottawa-based Online Business Manager specializing in project management, co-facilitation, and business communications. Since founding Picard Virtual Assistant Services in 2015, she has supported not-for-profits, social entrepreneurs, consultants, and small business owners across Canada, helping them streamline operations and move their work forward.

Drawing on nearly a decade of leadership experience in the healthcare and nonprofit sectors, Sarah brings expertise in team management, training, organizational development, and communications. She works closely with clients to turn ideas into actionable plans, coordinate projects and people, improve workflows, and keep priorities moving forward.

With a practical, solutions-focused approach, Sarah helps bring structure to the moving parts of a business so clients can focus on strategy and the work they do best. She is a trusted operational partner who keeps projects, communications, and day-to-day details organized and on track.

Susan O’Neil, a mother of two and originally from Australia, has a professional background in law, sales and marketing, and project and change management. She completed her undergraduate studies in chemistry and law at Monash University in Melbourne, and then spent almost five years at a large law firm and as in-house counsel to General Motors in Australia before moving to Canada. Shifting gears, she completed her MBA at the University of Alberta followed by three years in sales and marketing at Ernst & Young in Edmonton. Susan then spent a decade as a project manager and facilitator on large consulting and change management projects for Edmonton Public Schools and various public-sector clients in Alberta. This work touched areas such as launching online portals, child protection and family enhancement, family and child disability supports, the Alberta water policy framework, and environmental regulation.

In this next phase of her career, Susan qualified through the NCA route for legal practice in Canada in 2022 and currently undertakes legal research and informal advocacy while continuing her longstanding commitment to volunteerism. In 2023, she joined Monica in co-facilitating the TIP Community of Practice i and now provides research and practice support services to Chohan Law on a regular basis.

Erika Steeves is a professional editor with over 15 years of experience working as a technical and academic editor, and most recently as a fiction and nonfiction book editor. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Humanities at Carleton University and then went on to complete a master’s degree in Comparative Philosophy at Brock, followed by a year working as an in-house editor for Breakwater Books in St. John’s, NL. In 2011, she founded E.S. Editing Services and has since worked with a diverse client base, from engineers and university professors to community thought leaders, journalists, and social entrepreneurs. Her focus has always been on helping clients publish high-quality, engaging writing, whether that be a peer-reviewed journal article, blog post, or award-winning book. As Report Writer and Editor at Chohan Law, she brings this meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and plain language to drafting and editing legal reports and governance audits.
