Monica Chohan is an Ottawa-based lawyer and workplace investigator. A member of the Law Society of Ontario since 2010, she spent several years as a regulatory lawyer in the private sector before starting her own legal practice in 2017.

At Chohan Law, her ultimate goal is to help clients build better organizations through healthy workplace cultures, good governance, and proactive approaches to risk management.

Workplace Investigations

With a deep appreciation for trauma-informed approaches, Monica strives to provide a safe, respectful and judgment-free space for everyone involved in a workplace investigation.

Board Advisory

Monica has a particular interest in developing healthy board-staff relationships, and in emergent not-for-profit governance models that acknowledge and aim to overcome the limitations of traditional policy governance

Board Training

As an advocate for thoughtful and proactive approaches to governance, Monica regularly provides informative, interactive and engaging board training and workshops, in half-day and full-day formats.

 

Prior to starting her solo practice in 2017, Monica practised regulatory, administrative and privacy law, first as an articling student at the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, and then as in-house legal counsel at Shaw Communications and TELUS. She holds a joint MPA/J.D. from Queen's University, and a joint Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics (First Class Honours) and English (With Distinction) from the University of Calgary.

Monica is also the Founder and Principal of Wilbrod House Consulting
